Two topics on this front:
It's a good idea to wear gloves when bringing tools to the work, as you would with a handheld power tool. But you should NEVER wear gloves when bringing the work to the tools, as you would with a stationary power tool.
A Jig is used to position tools relative to other tools or the work (often used to constrain the movement of a tool relative to the work). By contrast, a Fixture is used to position the work on a tool.
